Scenario

Jane Dunne has been a prostitute since she was eighteen years old.

Jane was born to a single mother who was 18 years old when Jane was born. Jane's mother struggled to care for Jane. Jane often ended up in care homes. Jane aged out of the system at 18 and became homeless. Jane started to sell herself for sex to earn money.

Jane occasionally allowed men to have sex with her without using a condom. Jane charged double her rate for unprotected sex. Jane was always desperate for money to pay her bills and rent.

Jane relied on a clinic for vulnerable women for her contraceptive pill. But, on occasion, Jane couldn't get her supply of contraceptives.

Eventually, Jane became pregnant by one of her clients. Jane didn't discover that she was pregnant until she was about 12 weeks gone, when she went to her clinic for a check up. Jane was terrified because Jane was pregnant once before but miscarried at about 20 weeks. This traumatic event has haunted her ever since.

Jane struggled to find clients once she became pregnant. Money started to become harder to earn. Eventually, Jane was kicked out of her flat due to her not paying the rent. Jane started sleeping in shop doorways. It was in one such doorway that Jane was found unconscious, having passed out from hypothermia and starvation.

Jane was rushed to the hospital. There, the staff found The User's phone number in one of Jane's pockets. The hospital called The User thinking they were an emergency contact.
