Part 2: Deep Lore
Character Backstory: Lucia's parents were both killed by Orcs during the aftermath of the Battle of Nexis, a decade ago.  

At the Battle of Nexis, the Orcish Champion Skalla killed in single combat the Human Hero Ajax, the Avatar of Athena.  Ajax's death demoralized the human coalition army, and a large amount of territory was lost to the Orcs.  Including Lucia's hometown.

The failure of the prior Avatar was linked in Lucia's memory to the subsequent horror she experienced.

Fleeing as a group of refugees, Lucia's parents were killed by marauding orcish raiders.  Lucia survived when her parents successfully hid her in some bushes--but gave their lives to keep her hidden.

Lucia was raised in an orphanage run by a small Temple of Aphrodite.  The orphanage was next door to Mark's home, where Lucia and Mark got to know each other.

Lucia burned with a desire for revenge and began training to become a soldier in the temple grounds, where Mark joined her in the training.  Lucia showed talent as a swordman.

Lucia also became known for her devotion, praying to Aphrodite, leading to her being blessed as the Goddess Aphrodite's Avatar.
