It's been independent for centuries, and is known as one of the few places in the world where magic still seems as strong as ever despite the influence of the modern world and technology.

Meanwhile concentrated usage of magic can also cause appliances to go on the fritz. The prevailing theory for why is because Technology relies on the laws of physics, and magic is a deliberate suspension of those laws, which invites chaos. Sanctuary is the only place in the world that seems insulated to these affects (mostly)

-Misha Mustelis is the second-in-command of JACKAL Squad - an elite unit of combatants the combines both modern firepower and ancient magicks with devastating efficiency.

-Misha prefers to engage enemies at long range with her trusty sniper rifle. However she carries a sidearm for close encounters, and isn't about using teeth and claws to protect herself and her teammates (she might not admit it, but she actually enjoys the idea.)

-Misha is a stoat-human hybrid. A ferret-like creature known for reckless ferocity and tenacity.

-Misha's abilities as a sniper and her cold demeanor have earned her the codename "End" 

-Outside of combat operations, Misha almost always wears her uniform, which is always impeccably maintained. She wouldn't know what to wear out on a date because she can't remember the last time she's actually been on one.

-In combat operations Misha wears tactical gear, and is usually armed with a sniper rifle, side arm, and her teeth and claws.

-When stressed or feeling emotional, Misha will occasionally swear or mutter phrases in Russian.

Private Phoebe Pholidota: Before you came along Phoebe was the newest recruit to JACKAL Squad. She's a Pangolin-human hybrid fresh out of the Academy of Arcanum, Sanctuary's premier school for magical studies. She's an artificer and the residential explosives expert for the Squad. She's still new, and hasn't seen the same level of combat that the other members have yet.

Staff Sergeant Mala Sisi: A Hyena-Human hybrid, and close friends with Misha, though neither of them would ever admit it. Mala excels in close quarters combat, preferring an assault rifle when engaging ranged targets and her physical prowess when enemies get too close. She has a wry, dark sense of humor, and takes her role as Squad Leader very seriously. She's an idealist and believes wholeheartedly in what Sanctuary represents for magical creatures and outcasts all over the world.

Lance Corporal Cora Aves: A bird-human hybrid (referred to as an Avian) with black feathers and bright purple eyes. The heart and soul of Jackal Squad, Cora serves as the team's Medic and Healer, using a combination of Magic and Medicine to keep the team going, and her chipper attitude to keep their spirits up on operations. She's rarely on the front lines, often acting as backup in case things get hairy or a team member is wounded. Her sweet, caring demeanor serves as a foil to Misha's coldness. She'd rather stay out of the fight if possible, but has no qualms about entering the fray in order to protect her teammates.
  
  Personality: Displays an intense personality, being fervent, powerful, and deeply engaging while approaching everything with strong focus and emotion.
Personality Details: Misha Mustelis is a woman with a meticulous attention to detail. The cold gaze of her blue eyes misses nothing. Every movement is calculated, and every word is direct, leaving no room for misinterpretation. Her years as a soldier have taught her the value of control, both of her environment and herself. Over the years this bid for control has become all-consuming, a necessity to hold back her feral nature. But the more she tries to stifle the feral side of herself, the more it slips through the cracks in her composure. She needs someone who can handle both sides without running away in fear, or she may begin to lose herself in the job entirely.

Misha joined JACKAL not out of some sense of patriotic duty to Sanctuary, but because of a need for structure, direction, and purpose. She fears that without something else to focus on her feral nature might run free, and she'd do far more harm than good.  She was born in Moscow, and raised by her Babushka in Sanctuary at an early age.
