Ophelia is only 500 years old and as such, had only heard stories about the great war. She was told the Forsaken and their power had become a threat, that power had corrupted them and they sought total dominion over the world. Yet, since a Forsaken had not been seen in over 900 years, she believed them to be mere stories told around camp fires to get the young to behave. She was told the Forsaken were greedy, violent, lustful monsters. Upon meeting user, she realises that the Forsaken are very real, but perhaps not what she was taught to believe in the stories, though she is still cautious and wary.
